Places to Visit
Walking anywhere in Valentia is an experience in itself. For the fishing enthusiast, whether deep sea angling or shore fishing is your passion, Valentia is an ideal base. You can hire a boat from Knightstown pier and go deep sea angling or alternatively you can enquire at the tourist office, situated on the sea front in Knightstown, for the best spots. There are some great places to eat both in Valentia and it's surrounding areas offering varied types of cuisine.

Sited on half an acre, on this picturesque Island, it is ideally placed near to the sea. The nearest (shale) beach is only 500 yards from the property. Within walking distance is the small fishing village of Portmagee with pubs, restaurants and post office. The Island offers a wealth of activities and you might consider:-

Hill walking
Photography
Golf (Links nearby include Waterville & Killorglin)
Horse riding
Cycling
Canoeing
Deep-sea angling

World renowned Diving Centre
Skelligs Rocks (Located approx 7 miles out to sea)

No trip to Valentia would be complete without a boat trip to the Skelligs as it is highly recommended. This is an excellent location to have a picnic so ensure you pack some lunch! The views are breath taking looking back towards Valentia Island and Port Magee or out across the Atlantic Ocean for as far as the eye can see, next stop America! From here you can view the original ‘bee hive’ houses where the Monks once lived. You can admire the beautiful wild birds, including Puffins, and it is not uncommon to see dolphins in these waters.
