Amenities |
Valentia
Island (Dairbhre in Irish- Place of Oaks), is one of Europe's western
most inhabited locations, lying off the Iveragh Peninsula just off
the main Ring of Kerry in the Republic of Ireland.
It is linked to the mainland by a bridge at Portmagee, as well as
by a ferry (seasonal) which sails from Reenard Point to Knightstown
, it's capital town, the island's main settlement.
The permanent population of the island is 650, and the island is
approximately 11 km long by 3 km wide.
Situated on the main Gulf stream the Island boasts an array of magnificent
tropical plants and shrubs with colourful fuchsia in abundance.
Curreill House is situated in what can only be described as one
of the most scenic locations in the south west of Kerry!!!
This is an ideal base to explore the Island itself or venture further
a field. Located just off the ring of Kerry you are guaranteed magnificent
landscape and first class hospitality! This is a haven for the angler
or fishing enthusiast with the Atlantic right on the door step.
For a more personal service, and to cater for your individual needs,
then the owner Noel has a sea going cabin cruiser fully equipped
with toilet, fishing rods and electronic fish finder. You may prefer
to sit back relax or sun bathe whilst your skipper Noel takes you
on a guided tour of the Valentia waters and beyond. What better
way to arrive in Dingle for a light lunch, the obligatory Guinness
and shopping for the ladies before the return voyage, to Curreill
House, to experience the unforgettable sunsets!!!
There are some great places to eat both in Valentia and it's surrounding
areas offering varied types of cuisine. |
